DRAMA IN CURRICULUM | ENRICHMENT

At inwardBOUND, we believe drama education is more than just performance. Our Drama in Curriculum and Drama Enrichment programmes help students in both primary and secondary schools build confidence, creativity, and essential 21st Century Competencies such as communication, collaboration, and critical thinking

A Whole-Child Approach

Our programmes balance the joy of performance with the developmental benefits of drama, covering four key domains of learning:

  • Psycho-motor – Building expressive movement, pantomime, and performance skills

  • Cognitive – Developing critical and creative thinking, problem-solving, and perspective-taking

  • Affective – Cultivating empathy, resilience, and positive attitudes about self and others

  • Aesthetic – Nurturing imagination, creativity, and an appreciation for the arts

Learning Through Process Drama

Using Process Drama methodology, students don’t just act — they explore, question, and create. Through role-play and improvisation, they:

  • Step into different perspectives and practice empathy

  • Collaborate to co-create stories and solutions

  • Learn both in drama (skills), about drama (the art form), and through drama (real-world applications)

  • Strengthen confidence in self-expression, teamwork, and critical thinking

DRAMA FOR BEGINNERS

Providing students with imagination-expanding exercises in Pantomime, Voice, and Improvisation, this programme introduces the foundations of drama in a fun, accessible way. Activities are adaptable to school values, STELLAR texts, or any chosen context, allowing teachers to seamlessly connect drama to literacy, character education, and classroom learning.

PLAYBUILDING TOWARDS PERFORMANCE

This programme gives students the chance to explore the essential challenges of creating theatre together — from shaping ideas into scenes, to collaborating as an ensemble, and sharing their stories on stage. Through guided playbuilding, students learn how to transform imagination into performance while building teamwork, confidence, and creativity.

PROCESS DRAMA

Process Drama adopts a multi-faceted approach that allows students to learn in, about, and through drama. By stepping into different roles and viewpoints, they practice perspective-taking, empathy, and creative problem-solving. The process builds essential 21st Century Competencies such as collaboration, critical thinking, and communication — making learning both imaginative and deeply relevant.
