PAST re:ACT FESTIVALS
Since 2016, re:ACT©â€¯has served as a powerful bridge — connecting youth with community causes, and turning awareness into action. Designed and presented by inwardBOUND, the festival empowers students to explore pressing social issues through innovative forms of applied and interactive theatre.

At its core, re:ACT© is a creative platform for self-discovery and collaborative learning. Through theatre, students transform lived experiences into advocacy — sparking meaningful conversations on topics like mental health, inclusion, sustainability, and intergenerational understanding.

But more than a performance showcase, re:ACT© is a movement. It gives young people agency to speak, create, and lead. It unites diverse voices through art. And it reminds us that change begins with a story — one told with courage, care, and purpose.
re:ACT 2018: Shifting the Silence
In 2018, re:ACT took on the urgent global conversation sparked by the #MeToo movement. Through Forum Theatre, students explored the complex realities of abuse, consent, and power — not just as spectators, but as active participants. Scenes drew from real-life stories and invited audiences to step into the narrative, challenge injustices, and rehearse change. It was not just a performance — it was a collective act of speaking up, breaking silence, and reclaiming agency through theatre.
re:ACT 2017:
Across Borders, Beyond Words
In 2017, re:ACT went global — using digital tools to connect Singaporean students with youth from the marginalised garbage dump communities in Steung Meanchey, Phnom Penh. Through theatre, they explored a shared question: What matters to youth, at home and on the margins?
The collaboration culminated in cross-border performances that were streamed live to global audiences — bridging language, geography, and circumstance. re:ACT 2017 became more than an exchange; it was a powerful reminder that youth voices, when heard together, can reimagine what solidarity and empathy look like across borders.

Why We Do What We Do
At inwardBOUND, we believe theatre is more than performance — it’s a language for empathy, a space for reflection, and a spark for change.
We create platforms like re:ACT because stories shape how we see ourselves and each other. When youth and seniors come together to listen, create, and share, something powerful happens: generations connect, assumptions are challenged, and new conversations begin.
We do what we do because we’ve seen the impact — in a quiet nod between a student and a senior, in the courage it takes to step on stage, and in the questions that linger long after the lights go down.
This is why we make space for stories.
Because connection is always worth the effort.
